Top Places to Visit in Udaipur

When I visited Udaipur, it was a few years ago, I was captivated by the City of Lakes' royal touch. There are many places to see in Udaipur: the magnificent Udaipur palaces and forts, the marvellous City Palace and the enchanting Lake Pichola.

Udaipur was a place that I had always loved and so, I returned to visit. It was like meeting an old friend. Despite this, I feel that Udaipur's charm is slowly fading due to the over-tourism. This city of love, lakes and royalty still has a great taste.

Based on my own experience, this is my list of places to see in Udaipur. Other important points such as -How to get to Udaipur and where to stay in Udaipur. Restaurants, cafes, and places to shop in Udaipur.

Udaipur was a place that I had always loved and so, I returned to visit. It was like meeting an old friend. Despite this, I feel that Udaipur's charm is being lost due to over-tourism. This city of love, lakes and royalty still has a great taste.

Based on my own experience, this is my list of places to see in Udaipur. Other important points such as -How to get to Udaipur and where to stay in Udaipur. Restaurants, cafes, and places to shop in Udaipur.

Are you excited? Let's get started!

1. The Royal City Palace at Udaipur

The Gorgeous City Palace of Udaipur, located on the banks of Lake Pichola, is the largest palace complex of Rajasthan. This palace is an excellent example of Marwar architecture, with beautiful balconies, windows and marble work, as well as colourful tint glasses, mirror work, marble and mirrorwork, and grand rooms. You can also visit the museum and crystal gallery, which offer a glimpse into the lives of Udaipur's Maharajas.

2. Lake Pichola boat tour during sunset-

You must not miss a boat ride on the picturesque Lake Pichola. You will be taken through the world-famous Lake Palaces Jagat Niwas Palace Gangaur Ghat, Ambrai Ghat, and Gangaur Ghat. It is so relaxing and magical to take a boat ride at sunset.

 3. Spend an evening at Ambrai Ghat in Udaipur

Ambrai Ghat, Udaipur, is a great place to enjoy a quiet evening. Many people will be sitting by the lake, admiring the changing colours of the sun as it sets. The Ambrai Ghat also allows you to see the magical City Palace shimmering in moonlight from the Ambrai Ghat.

 4. Enjoy a candlelit dinner at Ambrai restaurant in Udaipur

Ambrai dinner will be a romantic Bollywood-style affair. With a glass red wine and a table facing the sparkling lake, City Palace lit. It sounds perfect, right? The view is just as beautiful as the food.

It's good to be informedYou can reserve the space 2 days in advance. Ambrai can be busy during peak season and weekends so it won't always be possible to get a spot at the perfect table.

 5. Enjoy sunset at Sajjangarh Fort (Monsoon Palace)

Sajjangarh Fort was originally supposed to be an astronomical center for Marwar Kingdom. However, after Maharaja Sajjan Singh's death (who had the idea), it was made into a fort. The fort is surrounded by Aravalli Hills and offers a breathtaking view of Udaipur's city and its lakes. The orange sky covers the Aravalli hills at sunset (see the view).

6. Visit King's classic & vintage car museum

Udaipur Kings took cars very seriously One of these cars was even used in Bond movies! Maharaja still owns this royal collection and it can be viewed at the Vintage car museum in Udaipur.

 7. Karni Mata temple

You will not find a better sunrise or night view of the city than from Karni Mata temple. It is also famous for its approximately. The temple is home to approximately 25,000 black rats. You can either walk or take the ropeway to the temple from Deendayal Upadhyay Mar. It will take approximately 20 minutes and is a much better alternative to the ropeway.

8. Enjoy a morning stroll around Gangaur Ghat, Udaipur

Early morning walks are the best way to feel the real vibes of a place. There will be no traffic, no vendors, and people going to the temple for their morning prayers. It sounds so much more peaceful than bustling noon markets. You will see hundreds upon hundreds of pigeons being fed at Gangaur Ghat in the early morning. You can sit by the lake to soak up the morning energy. These moments of silence and solitude are what I enjoy.
